    Westmoreland County History -DeWalt Hoey/Hoy history of Samuel Hoy by William Hoy. Mr. Hoy thought DeWalts felt DeWalts were of French origins. Thomas (Peter's father came to America with LaFayette in the American Rev. Note:
    No land records or oath of alligiance found to support this) Only Thomas DeWalt in Pa acrchies is listed as a Deserter in 1761. Our Peter was too young to be in American Rev

    In the year 1825, among the heads of families in Delmont was a Mr. DeWalt. His wife died a few months later


    She had a conversation with William Hoy -son of Susanna DeWalt and Samuel Hoy-youngest daughter of Peter and Susanna Mock and he made comment that his mother knew little about her mother as Susanna Mock died when when his mother susan was about six. Susan was raised by granparents John and Sarah Silvis (buried at Homestead PA)

    Visited York county and Adams and Franklin counties-no recoreds of Thomas DeWalt for land records. Was a Peter and a Daniel with son Peter who stayed in York and a Peter in Franklin Co. and died there.

    Northhampton County: German DeWalts spelled Theowald. A John Dewalt there as early as 1744 and had son Peter.

    Henry DeVault b. 10 Apr 1733 d. 16 Apr 1817 France (Huguenot parents)moved to German state became Henirick Dewald in Germany married Catherine Maria Grauer (Graver) b 8 Aug 1737 d 2 Oct 1830. They took passage on ship (Chance) Rotterdam, Holland, early in 1766. With them 18 month old son Philip and Henry's younger brother Philip who entered as member of Henry's family. Landed in Philadelphia PA 23 Sep 1766, In 1768 Henry estblised his own land in Manheim twp, York Co. Pennsylvainia.
