History of the cemetery:
History of the Murrysville Cemetery

By deed of June 1, 1830, Jeremiah Murry and his wife Satiah gave 2 acres and 80 perches of their 158 acres to the
Trustees of the Presbyterian Congregation on which was already located a "meeting house" and a "grave yard".

The "grave yard" was not developed into parcels, no lots were ever sold, nor were there any rules, guide lines or restrictions. When a family needed a lot, they came and staked a claim. The markers and monuments are not in any
set configuration. The cemetery became a free burial ground for the community of Murrysville with no funds provided for care or maintenance.

This is from a book Compiled by Rita Farquhar Gerardine. Murrysville Cemetery at the First Presbyterian Church; Murrysville, PA
