Consoles Hannah about (Morris Martin) it was not in his heart to take the life of his brother man, but the deed was done under strong excitement. Letter from Philander about line of the battle of Fort Donaldson-heard he has been killed but nothing reliable. Pa will write.

C J Parker writes: could get council in this county or in Buffalo... will try to be there for his trial. Write as soon as possible after seeing Morris.

Added note: She received Hannah's letter of the 12th on Saturday. Talks about Morris and his conviction for murder that it would probably be man slaughter. Requests to be notified of the trial.

    Notes
    • Emma's parents died. Foster father was Cephus J Parker. Don't know if this was a relative. There are a lot of Parkers on the China Wyoming federal census. More than likely Hannah's sister married a Parker. C J Parker knew her Uncle Morris and was willing to pay for his legal expenses-which indicates he was close to the Martin's.
