    • PATRIARCHAL BLESSING: Cardston, Alberta, Canada. 22 Jul 1932.
A patriarchal blessing given under the hands of John F. Anderson, patriarch, un the head of Mildred Marguerite Love, daughter of John Albert Love and Dora May Abbott. Born at Leavenworth, Chelan, Washington, 14 Nov 1907.
      Dear Sister Love:
In the authority of the Holy Priesthood and in the name of Christ, our Savior, I lay my hands upon your head and give unto you a patriarchal blessing that you may more fully be encouraged and strengthened in your life's mission.
I bless you that you may be reinforced with more of the Divine Spirit from this time forward, that through keeping the commandments you may become sensitive to the voice of revelation, for there is in store for you the blessings of the daughters of Zion, and ways and means will be provided for you to accomplish all things that have been assigned you in your mortal state, and your disappointments will be sanctified to your good, and you shall be enlightened to see the hand of the Lord in your affliction, and your troubles
will pass as the mists pass away before the rising sun.
I bless you in your body that your organs may function according to nature and that you be privileged to enter the house of the Lord and receive the sealing powers of the Holy Priesthood as pertaining to the law of eternal progression, and become an honored wife and a mother in Israel, for you are one of the daughter of Israel and your lineage is of Ephraim.
You shall be blessed in understanding the scriptures and in the study of all good books and in understanding the laws of life. You shall be blessed in giving life and in bringing life into the world, and be useful among the sick and afflicted. You shall have a keen conception of the laws that govern the human body and if you will apply your mind to the study of these things you shall be blessed and magnified among your sex and be looked upon as one that is dependable. You shall have great joy in your labors and be accompanied with the gift of the Divine Spirit to aid you in your studies and your labors.
I bless you in your mind that you may be quick to discern good from evil; that you may have the gift of discernment to be used in wisdom and in all of your labors. I bless you with every blessing that is needful for your good in the fulfilling of your life's mission, and I seal upon you these blessing according to you faithfulness and in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
      John F. Anderson. [1]

    Newspaper article Leavenworth, Washington 1942
Miss Mildred Love, was among the first women to enlist in the WAACS, was born in Leavenworth, November 14, 1907. Leaving here th4e year of the Bog Snow, in 1916, she received most of her schooling on the coast. During her school years, her father helped build a number of sawmills. This necessitated moving frequently, but in spite of this, she made excellent grades. She finished high school in Leavenworth.
Miss Love has since done vocational work, practical nursing, and Swedish massage; she was a hospital cook and dietitian, and served as a missionary for the Church of Latter Day Saints. She has sponsored young people?s recreational activities, and clubs, and has hiking, camping and outdoor activities, gardening and housekeeping as hobbies.
When Miss Love was in the WAACS she was stationed at Ft. Des Moines, Iowa. She says: ?For some time before joining the WAACS, I realized the need for such an organization, and I was only waiting for the opportunity.? She speaks very highly of the WAACS and of their work. ?but? she adds, ?I feel that glamour has been stressed too much. I enjoyed every bit of my life there, but it is very rugged training.?
?One of the greatest thrills of this training was at reveille and retreat. It is a great thrill at the close of a perfect day to see the flag lowered, knowing that the flag will rise again on the morrow and that Old Glory waves over this land of ours.?
Some of the fields of training offered in the WAACS are Motor Transport Corps. Signal Corps, Cooks and Bakers, Processing, Administration, and certain sections of the Medical Corps.
Miss Love had graduated from the Cooks and Bakers school and had received a First Cook?s diploma, when she was taken ill. She spent some time in the camp hospital, where she received the best of care, and was given an honorable medical discharged.
She disliked very much giving up her career as a WAAC, and as soon as her health permits, her desire is to re-enter some branch of the service. In the near future she plans to affiliate with the defense program.
Patriotism and perseverance such as hers are very necessary in that step toward ultimate victory.

    Love-Cabin at Fish Lake, Washington
Uncle Ed Smith's Cabin (John's sister Alice husband), the Love family spent August to November 1931 here. This is the cabin in which Elbert and Melvin were in a big bear tried to get in. The boys would take a stick and bang it against a fry pan making a bang, as the bear would try to push on the door, the sound hurt the bears ears, shake his head and try again, each time he hit the door a big bang sounded. Eventually, the bear went away shaking his head. Melvin makes not of this incident in his brief history. (not sure who the 2 girls are in this picture)
